So in addition to any other random blog posts I happen to throw together, I’m also going to try to have a weekly post spotlighting some kind of gizmo! It may be something useful or may be something silly that you might want just because. Everyone knows they’ll get some random little gadget on occasion if it’s cool enough, right?
Anyway, for our first gadget to be spotlighted, we have these incredible glasses called Gunnars! A lot of you, especially those who work with me, already know about these beauties. However, for those of you that are still scratching your head like a monkey, listen up! In today’s society, we rely technology is everywhere. For hours we are staring at backlit computer, tablet, and TV screens. All of these screens have an intense blue light that puts stress on your eyes when you’re staring at the screen for hours with little to no breaks (I’m looking at you gamers out there especially). I mean, even now as you’re reading this post, your computer/tablet/smartphone screen is relentlessly torturing your poor little eyeballs and laughing at them when they dry out. It is a similar relationship between the sun and those who are crazy enough to live in a desert like Arizona (ie. me).
Well, guess what! Some genius thought up these awesome lenses and have made a plethora of lovely eyewear for gamers and designers alike! According to Gunnar’s official website:
“GUNNARS increase contrast, comfort and focus while minimizing eye fatigue and visual stress for anyone who spends long hours staring at digital screens. GUNNAR eyewear is powered by i-AMP lens technology comprised of a proprietary lens material in an advanced geometry tuned for intermediate viewing distance and finished with custom formulated lens filters, tints and coatings.”
Pretty nice right? I’m wearing them right now even as I type this. My glasses do have a yellow tint to them, but for designers they do have a crystalline lens option! You can also get them in your prescription, though it is limited to a certain range because of how the lenses are shaped (or so I’m told). When I first got mine, they did not have my prescription so I can only wear mine when I have my contacts in. Thankfully, I wear contacts like every day so it’s not that big of an issue.
They are starting to pop up in some optometrist offices as well as Best Buy it looks like! If you would like to check out more about these glasses, check out their different styles, or even purchase them, I’d suggest their official site down below!
