Here’s my 2014 Goals. How about yours?

As 2013 draws to a close and we look toward 2014, everyone begins to think about what resolutions and goals they have for the upcoming year. I am definitely among those people that have been thinking about what I want to do to improve myself and/or my life in the next year. So here is my list!

Goal #1: Treat my body better

I’m not just talking about eating healthier and actually sticking to a workout routine this time around. I don’t really have a beauty regimen at all. I hardly use skin moisturizers, have just begun diving into hair care products outside of shampoo and conditioner, and don’t even get me started on my nails. Yikes. So I am hoping to actually get myself into some kind of beauty regimen so that as I grow older, my skin won’t reveal my true age (or make me look like I’m 50 when I reach 35).

Goal #2: Get LASIK

We all know I have been saving up for LASIK, but I am setting a goal to have it done sometime in 2014. If I’m diligent enough, maybe I can even get it done before my birthday. That would be ideal.

Goal #3: Learn to Sew

I’m already starting on this and I’m getting decent at hand stitching, but machine sewing is a whole other can of worms. I’ve had the machine for a year now and I haven’t touched it. It’s time to really get serious about learning to sew, especially if I want to make my own cosplays in the future.

Goal #4: Write a Book and/or Stick to a Blog Schedule

Honestly, I’d love to do both. The blog schedule will be a little easier since I can write about anything I feel like writing about that day. I would like to write a book because I love writing and, honestly, being an author as my career would be a dream come true. Being able to let my creativity flow on a daily basis, sharing stories with the world… I just can’t describe the feeling I have when I think about what it would be like to be a published, successful author. Will it be a tough road? Of course. But I am ambitious and passionate and I think I can do this.

Now if only I could settle on an idea for that novel….

Goal #5: Fix my Teeth

Let’s face it. My teeth are stained. I’m not sure if this was due to genetics, poor oral hygiene as I was growing up, or both. But I have badly stained teeth and while my front teeth were fixed when I was younger, they’re staining again. Now that my wisdom teeth are out, I’m hoping to look into the possibility of Lumineers. My teeth are too sensitive for bleaching so this is the next option I have. I may also look into Invisalign (again) but since my insurance covered it once, I’d have to pay out of pocket this time around. This one requires quite a bit of thinking.

Since I DO want LASIK more, this goal may be more of a long term one unless I happen to come across a miracle that ends up with me having a buttload of cash to cover both these procedures and college. A girl can dream right?

Goal #6: Be More Diligent about Homework

Homework sucks. We all know that. But since the only teacher I feel does a great job teaching Spanish only offers online classes, learning this second language is freaking hard. Not only that, but I was an idiot for the first few years of my academic career in college and my GPA has dropped from a kickass 4.0 to a 3.2. I could have been in the Honors Society, earning scholarships and other beneficial things. I’m definitely kicking myself for it. So, as I continue my academic career through the community college and prepare to transfer to the university, I am really trying to focus on doing better in school. I want that GPA back up as close to a 4.0 as possible.

Goal #7: Be more Positive

I’ve had issues this past year. Things that have happened have caused me to become a negative person toward myself, toward others, toward the cosplay community, and even at work. It’s affected me a lot. And it’s gotta stop. So while this has been something I’ve been working on, I’m setting a true goal to become the most positive person I can be within the next year. Life is too short after all, and living it as a negative person really makes it less enjoyable. I prefer smiles, laughter, and joy throughout my life. No better time to start striving toward a happy life than right now.

So that’s what I have so far. There’s some huge goals I have set for myself, but I think if I put all of my effort into it, I can make at least most of these happen in 2014.

So now that you’ve seen my list, let’s see what goals you have! Leave a comment below and tell me!
