Last weekend, I was roaming around Wondercon. Now that I have gone into full blown con withdrawal, I wanted to share the pictures I took during the weekend of some cool costumes and my loot. I ended up only costuming for about 2 hours out of all three days. I had Pirate Harley Quinn on Saturday for a few hours. It was fun, but I find that when the group of people I go with don’t costume or we are all separating and running off in different directions, I don’t have nearly as much fun in costume. Plus, I just wasn’t feeling it this past weekend. I didn’t even do the entire make up that I usually do for Harley costumes.
Obviously that’s not a totally bad thing. Sometimes costumers like to just run around dressed as civilians and check out other costumes or shop in the vendor hall, or attend panels without having to dick with their costume, especially if it’s not a comfy costume! 😛 This con happened to be a shopping/picture-taking/relaxing con for me this time around.
I also came across some books that I wanted to pick up and try. I love supporting small press and indie authors, so when The Refugee by C.A Hartman and Demon’s Prize by Jennifer Maimone caught my eye, I had to snag them, meet the authors, and get them signed. YAY READING! <3
However, there were a ton of costumes I saw that were freaking awesome. Some people are incredibly talented and when they actually acted like the character they were dressed up as, that really sold it for me. I won’t lie…. I fangirled a few times. 😀
I also got to see a couple of cosplayers I follow for the first time, which made me happy. I happened to catch Ashlynne Dae in her Elsa/Slave Leia mashup, which turned out incredibly adorable. Props to Jamin on his improved Leia bikini sets too! I also caught Miranda (Saylum on IG) in her 2013 Lara Croft cosplay. She is basically the one that inspires me to want to do this costume or the newest Tomb Raider costume in the near future. <3
As usual, I still managed to miss some of my friends that are California based, such as Ensani Volz and Alexandria the Red, but I know there will be next year! Or maybe they’ll make it to Amazing Las Vegas or Phoenix Comicon this year.
Anyhoot. That’s all from me! Check out my totally awesome iPhone pics of costumes I loved from Wondercon down below. Best iPhone photographer ever. I know. /sarcasm
