2016 Projects & Goals (So Far)

Well we are already half way through February (WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE OMG) and I have a lot of things I want to do in 2016! And I used that particular Batgirl photo as my header because that is my “I’m gonna kick 2016’s ass” pose.

Okay fine it’s just a cool freaking photo and I wanted to use it. Sue me.

To hold myself accountable – and hopefully force myself to make some time to make sure everything happens THIS year – I wanted to share with you my goals for 2016 in cosplay, photography, and anything else! Continue Reading

Admitting It: The First Step to Overcome My Social Media Addiction

Time for a very lengthy and very deep post. Hope you’re prepared.

Most of the time when we think of addiction, we usually think of drugs or alcohol. Or at least that’s generally what comes to my mind when I think of that word. But when you really, truly, deeply think about it, there are so many things that a person can be addicted to. Someone can be addicted to sex, eating, shopping, smoking, gambling, and even working or spiritual obsessions. Yeah, sure, some of these are incredibly dangerous to our health or (in the case of gambling and shopping) our finances. A lot of these I just listed you might think are pretty dangerous or incredibly heart breaking to hear about. Continue Reading

Remembering Grant Brummett: Photographer, Friend, Family Man, and a Beautiful Soul

“You know I am always so honored when you guys use my photos as your profile pictures. It tells me I did a great job,” Grant said with a grin on his face.

I smiled back, “It’s because you’re so talented! You know how to make me look good. I LOVE the Batgirl photos. You’re amazing.” We were walking around to the side of the Mesa Convention Center on Sunday of Comic & Media Expo to get some quick photos of my classic Harley costume and chatting about the photos he had taken the day prior. It was the first time I had worn Batgirl and he was the very first photographer to capture photos of the costume. I had been so giddy when he shared the photos with me that same night and he had shared my excitement via Facebook chat.

That was one of the last conversations I had had with Grant Brummett, who seemed so full of life and absolutely excited to try out a new photo technique of compositing a cosplayer’s costumes together. I remember thinking it was super sweet that he got excited over something as seemingly simple as choosing his work as a profile photo on a website. But it really did mean something to him, because he loved his photography work that much. Continue Reading

Join Me at Comic & Media Expo’s Pre-Party, Sept 26th!

Sooooooo, Comic & Media Expo will be having a Pre-Party at EndGame, a video game bar located in Tempe, AZ on Saturday, September 26 from 9PM-1AM! The pre-party will be Star Wars themed and if you come in costume, you’ll get discounted drink tickets. WHAAAAAAAAT?! What’s better than getting drunk in a Star Wars costume, you ask? Not much else.

Well maybe unless the Star Wars cast was there getting drunk WITH us. That would be a pretty epic night.

Head on out to the pre-party, come in costume, and you’ll get to hang out with some awesome, local cosplayers such as Sara Moni, Firelight Cosplay, Krash Cosplay, and ElfyAubrie!

Oh and then I guess me too. That’s right. This little recluse is coming out and going to a BAR. ON A SATURDAY. AND DRINKING A LITTLE (But not very much. I don’t party that hard. #sorrynotsorry). If my wonderful boyfriend is able to escape the hectic adulting schedule he currently has, he will also be joining me.

I also heard this really talented photographer named ModelMosa will be there snapping away some photos.  So get some cool photos with me too! 😀 I’m hoping to have a NEW costume done in time for this event. But no promises. Especially since I have very little funds, n00b skills, and very little time. BUT I’m going to try just for you guys.

So come on out if you’re over 21! We’ll drink, play games, and be merry. And we’ll be in Star Wars costumes.

It’ll be fun. You can find more details about the event on the flyer below and on CMX’s Facebook Page.

See you there!

Yes, I realize that this is not cosplay-related and a lot of my followers specifically on my social media pages are likely here just for the costumes. I understand that. But I have recently realized a few things in my life that have changed me. I want to not only share with you what this is and also open up and let you know a little more about my life. Photography: Why I Got on the Other Side of the Camera

Some of you may know about this if you have been paying attention to my Instagram, but I’ve recently started getting into photography. Photography is huge in the cosplay community: cosplayers who choose to sell prints or want to show off their work need more than cell phone photos; photographers love sharing photos of the kickass costumes they see at cons, or like to collaborate on creative photo projects like this one about some cosplayers and photographers teaming up for a cosplay photography project in Iceland. (PS. This is a goal of mine) Continue Reading

My Store is Back!

I know I had been on the fence for a while about whether or not I would continue selling prints. However, you guys have always been very supportive and sweet. I have no idea how I can repay you, but I know you guys have been asking for prints to come back. So, I’ve decided to bring them back! Continue Reading

Wondercon 2015 Recap

Wondercon Logo

Last weekend, I was roaming around Wondercon. Now that I have gone into full blown con withdrawal, I wanted to share the pictures I took during the weekend of some cool costumes and my loot. I ended up only costuming for about 2 hours out of all three days. I had Pirate Harley Quinn on Saturday for a few hours. It was fun, but I find that when the group of people I go with don’t costume or we are all separating and running off in different directions, I don’t have nearly as much fun in costume. Plus, I just wasn’t feeling it this past weekend. I didn’t even do the entire make up that I usually do for Harley costumes. Continue Reading
